The University of Jammu has been granted four star status by NAAC that imparts education on 33 different branches of study, which offers post graduate programmes in Business Administration, Tourism Management, Computer Applications, Environmental Sciences, Electronics, Bio-Technology, Sociology, Psychology, Physical Education and Strategic and Regional Studies. In addition to under gradauate and post graduate courses, the university also offers research programs that award MPhil, PhD and DLit degrees on respective subjects. The university awards Bachelor’s degrees through the colleges which are affiliated to it.

The University of Jammu also has a distance learning department to make education available to everybody. The special services provided by the university include training on various competitive examinations, guidance and counseling and yoga center. The students are also assisted by the employment bureau to find the right job. The university also has hostel accommodation for the boys.

The University of Jammu has two campuses, one in Kathua and the other in Bhaderwah, both of which were established in the year 2006.
