The Directorate of Distance Education (formerly known as Institute of Correspondence Education) was established on 3rd March 1976 in the University of Jammu. Located in the 118.78  acre main New Campus of the University, which houses teaching departments, examination wing, department of student welfare, information wing, computer center, computer laboratories, internet facilities, post office, bank, book shop, health care, guest house, central library, hostel facility, play grounds, cafeteria, canteens, etc.
